The deck's approach to card cost is genuinely unique: the Leader effect pairs with characters whose increased cost unlocks abilities usually found only on much more expensive cards. As players have figured out the sequencing, that novelty is starting to translate into results.

The deck rewards careful resource management and smart sequencing, using its cost-manipulation mechanics to maintain pressure while creating opportunities for powerful tempo swings. It remains one of the harder decks in the format to play correctly, but as the OP17 meta continues to develop, Black Luffy is proving to be a flexible and increasingly competitive contender.
