Curve Guide

Go Second

Going second is your best curve because it lets you set up Life, develop a body, and transition into your Trigger payoffs naturally.

2 DON!!

Start with Kouzuki Hiyori to place the Trigger you need from your hand on top of your Life pile. This makes the next Life you gain deliberate rather than random, which is the foundation of Boa's defensive plan.

4 DON!!
or

Either play Ran to attach a DON!! to your Leader for free every turn, enabling your Leader effect's activation condition, or play Roronoa Zoro to add an extra Life and give yourself one more chance to activate a Trigger when your opponent attacks your Life.

6 DON!!

Nami is a 6K Blocker that draws 3 cards, then lets you place 2 cards on the top or bottom of your deck. Put cards that are not useful for the rest of the game on the bottom; if your hand is already strong, keep the cards on top instead. Ideally, place a card with a strong Trigger second from the top: after drawing next turn, Marshall.D.Teach can place it into your Life cards at 8 DON!!.

8 DON!!

Play Marshall.D.Teach to place 1 of the top 3 cards of your deck on top of your Life cards, choosing the Trigger your opponent will face on their next Life attack. If Ran is already in play, attach a DON!! to your Leader: attacking your Characters can make the Leader effect cost the opponent a Life, while attacking your Life risks the Trigger you just prepared. This creates a difficult attack sequence and punishes any mistake.

10 DON!!
or

Choose Marshall.D.Teach for the defensive play: it adds a Life card while letting you choose the next Life Trigger from the top 3 cards of your deck. Choose Boa Hancock SR for the more offensive play: it adds the top card of your deck to your Life while making your opponent return 1 Life card to their hand. Boa Hancock SR also heals you, but unlike Teach, you neither see nor choose the card added to Life, so your next Trigger remains uncertain. Both plays develop a high-Power Character.

Go First

Going first is awkward, but still playable when you sequence your hand and Life setup carefully.

1 DON!!

There is no play on the first turn because the deck doesn't run any 1-cost cards.

3 DON!!

Play Charlotte Pudding to draw 3 cards and improve your chances of finding the cards you need for the following turns.

5 DON!!

Play Roronoa Zoro to add 1 Life card and create another chance to use a Trigger on the next attack on your Life cards. Attach the remaining DON!! to your Leader to attack for 6K. This also enables the Leader effect only if an Amazon Lily or Kuja Pirates Character is already in play, for example from a Trigger.

7 DON!!

Gorgon Sisters is playable even with only a few Characters on your board, but becomes stronger as your board develops. It lets you attach 1 rested DON!! to each of your Characters and your Leader every turn, so every Character played later, including from a Trigger, increases the pressure it creates.

9 DON!!
or

Choose Marshall.D.Teach to add a Life card while choosing your next Life Trigger, or Boa Hancock SR to add the top card of your deck to your Life and make your opponent return 1 Life card to their hand. Both plays develop a high-Power Character, but Boa Hancock SR trades Life control for more pressure.

Deck Overview

The Mechanic

This deck barely runs any Blue cards. Instead, it uses the Big Mom Pirates and Kuja Pirates Trigger packages. Whenever you play a character on your opponent's turn via Trigger, your Leader lets you draw a card: you develop a body and replace the card in your hand for free.

  • Incredible hand advantage: draw cards every time you pop a Trigger on the opponent's turn.
  • Built-in Life Burn: the opponent is punished for trying to clear your board.
  • Unpredictable defense: stacking your Life lets you set up massive counters.
  • Very weak to non-K.O. removal. If your Kuja characters get bottom-decked or bounced to hand, the Life Burn effect doesn't trigger.
  • Hard execution: precise sequencing and deck stacking matter, and one wrong placement can cost the game.
  • Struggles against massive Boss monsters outside Teach's K.O. range.
  • Leader Boa Hancock: draws cards on defense and burns the opponent's Life when Kuja characters are K.O.'d.
  • 8c Teach: lets you look at the top of your deck and set up the Trigger you need in your Life area.
  • 5c Boa Marigold: comes out of Life and gains Blocker at 2 Life, forcing the opponent to K.O. her and take burn damage.

OP17 Pro Tactics & Combos

The Unblockable Finisher

Don't forget the Blue side of the deck. Perfume Femur gives your Leader or a Warlord character +2K Power and makes their attack completely unblockable. It's the finisher that steals games when the opponent thinks they're safe behind Blockers.

The Marigold Burn Block

5c Boa Marigold is a defensive trap. At 2 Life or less, she gains Blocker. When the opponent attacks for game, block with her: if she's K.O.'d, your Leader effect triggers and forces the opponent to take a Life to hand. It's a lose-lose situation for them.

The Moria Pitch

Gecko Moria is in the deck for its powerful Trigger. Even from your hand, it has value: use Kouzuki Hiyori to place it on top of your Life cards, or discard it with Charlotte Pudding to activate her effect.
